Fearless Men’s Weekly Round-Up | October 4th, 2012

FearlessIt’s been a huge week at Fearless Men. It all started and culminated with Monday Night Football. My Chicago Bears went into Dallas Stadium and tossed the Cowboys around. Tony Romo threw 5 interceptions, 2 were returned for TD’s and Cutler and Marshall finally displayed what we have been expecting and hoping for. To add to this awesome victory, 2 of my Fantasy Football teams won only because of the Bears D and the smack down they brought.

We continue our series on History’s Fearless Men with Theodore Roosevelt | Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick and got another article on a topic that all of us secretly want to know but don’t admit – 5 Thoughts Women Wish Men Knew. If you liked How to Make Her Feel Special – Everyday then you have to read this one too.

So I never thought I’d have a recipe in our Weekly Round-Up but we do now…

Recipe – Greek Hummus Dip by Jason@Work Save Live

Hummus has been the new craze in the last decade! When I was in the Army I spent some time in Israel and had some of the best Hummus in my life. It actually opened up my life to Hummus because then I started noticing them at Farmers Markets and Greek Cafe’s. It never crossed my mind to make some in my own kitchen though but now we got the recipe for success and it really doesn’t look to tough. He’s got some other recipes too that you might like. 6 Tips to Achieving Fundraising Success by Jon the Saver @Free Money Wisdom

A couple months ago I was googling “How to do a fundraiser”. I found some good tips but wish Jon had written this earlier cause I could have used his tips. Did you know that Holidays are one of the best times? Might seem like common sense but this one escaped me…

Investing in Fixed Income by Sean Bryant@One Smart Dollar

Most people new to 401(k)s and IRA’s that want to invest their money don’t know anything about fixed income. They want to retire comfortably and want to know what stocks to pick and which ones will make them the most money. One of the first things they’ll learn is a balanced portfolio and Fixed Income is a big part of that. These are important in addition to retirement funds, Index funds and other stocks.

Tax Implications of Running a Blog by Jeremy@Modest Money

“For those of us bloggers that are using our blogs to generate a little side income, one thing to always consider is the tax man. That’s right, where there is income there is always income tax. When they say that the only certainties in life are death and taxes, they are not kidding.”

Can you take circumstances in your life too serious? What about not taking them serious enough? by Paul Jolicoeur

I was quite the serious kid and competitive. What a combination huh? Thankfully as I got older I tempered out and through life learned when to let it go and when to put my focus behind it. Paul makes an argument that I quite like on investing your time and energy in things that matter over time. “In all reality the only thing I do today that will matter in 30 years is what I invest in others and myself.

Comments

  1. Big thanks for the mention. Have a great rest of your week.

  2. John,

    Thanks for the mention.

How about adding one of my longtime favorites, Harry Houdini, to you series on History’s Fearless Men?

With Halloween (the date of his death) fast approaching, he might be a good fit.

  3. Thanks for including me this week. Great summary of my post!

  4. Thank you for the mention! Pull ups are tough, but worth it!

Good to see another fellow blogger who is also a Bears fan as well. I would not want to be the Jaguars right now the way the Bears are playing.

  5. I hope the Bears can build off of this past weekend because I’m REALLY needing Cutler to step up and carry my fantasy team. He’s the weakest link and has cost me a few wins already!

Thanks for the mention John; hope you have a great weekend!

    • Me too! I’m starting him against the Jaguars since my regular starter Stafford is on a bye. I’m expecting at least a duplication of last week.
