What is the Right Age to Settle Down?

As a young professional woman in America, I heard my male friends talk about wanting to wait until the age of thirty to get married. Most girls I talk to want to be married before they are thirty. I know society says that women mature fast than men most of the time, and that a women’s “clock is ticking” so that’s why girls feel the need to get married sooner, but I think it’s all individual preference and society might be influencing people too much in this area of life. Here are some of the reasons why men think over thirty is the right age to settle down.

1: Men know women like stability and are attracted to stability. After graduating college and having a career for a few years and a promotion or two makes people feel good, and give you more confidence in the real world if you are doing well professionally.

2: Once they have paid off some of their student loans. This means that they are getting better at managing their money and sable enough to pay bills on time without living paycheck to paycheck.

3: A lot of men have their own home by thirty or at least have plans to buy one. They don’t live with a roommate or their parents which makes dating easier. Having a place your serious girlfriend can keep a drawer full of her stuff and key to the front door is a big step, and men over thirty are more likely to take it.

4: They need time to play the field for ten years prior and that puts them at about thirty years old or so. It doesn’t make sense for everyone, but if that’s what most of their friends are doing it’s hard to be the one married man at 24.

5: Never having any other serious relationship in the past may be a reason why men wait until after 30 to get married. They want to make sure they only get married once and do it right the first time so they want to make sure the love they feel is real.

Thirty seems to be the magic number for men when they think its ok to get married but I say they is not right age, the heart wants what it wants when it wants it.
