When I think of the best Bruce Lee quotes, this may be the most defining one for me. He lived a full life. But it was unfortunately a short one. All he had was the brief time his life was made of. And because he loved life, he filled it, and made a remarkable impact. Will you?

By the way, I believe that “time management” is a lie. But I do believe we can manage ourselves regarding time.

I love it. We often sit and wait for the right moment, or for our pipe dream to suddenly form and take shape in reality. Don’t wait around for the perfect set of circumstances-create the opportunities.

I’ve observed that stiff people are commonly the most difficult and abrasive. We’ve got to learn to bend so we won’t crack.

Bruce Lee isn’t the only person to make a quote like this. Even still, it’s one of the most important Bruce Lee quotes because it informs us about his philosophy as he was the creator of his own martial form: Jeet Kune Do (The Way of the Intercepting Fist).

A timeless truth even a “rock star” of martial arts and film wanted to live by.

In life we’re called to be quick to listen and slow to anger.

“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.”

Chew on this. Bruce Lee stated this as a wholly new and unique personality that hit in the 60’s and 70’s. And he was way ahead of the curve. Don’t think that you must fit exactly into the mold of the patriarchs in your field of expertise. Everyone has their own path, don’t feel fully obligated to duplicate someone else’s, even Bruce Lee’s.

“Knowledge will give you power, but character respect.”

Character is an undervalued trait in our time. So undervalued, that I believe when people see someone with true character, that person gains an enormous amount of influence and with it the power to do good.

“Showing off is the fool’s idea of glory.”

I hope to never be perceived as a fool seeking glory.
