Mobile Gaming Increases in Popularity

It’s no secret that mobile gaming has been increasing in popularity over the past several years. Ever since the first significant smartphone hit the scene, the antiquated Blackberry, people have been downloading games and apps to pass the time at work and home. Now with the increased technological capabilities of the iPhone and Android phones, mobile gaming has actually become more popular than the traditional set-top consoles. There’s a reason why you don’t see any of those handheld game systems anymore like the Gameboy and PSP. The mobile phone can do it all now.

Although the number of devices we feel the need to carry with us has been decreasing over the years, the amount of money we pay for them has not. It used to be that we could pay a one-time fee to buy a tangible video game cartridge or disc and then play it to its fullest potential without any additional fees or subscriptions. These days there are a ton of fees and add-ons that cost additional money. Here are some quick and easy ways to save a few bucks while still enjoying your mobile games.

First and foremost, stop buying extra lives and extra “coins”. Try and exercise a little patience when playing these games. Lives and coins and hearts always refill and replenish provided you take a break here and there. You not only can avoid paying additional money but you can also take a necessary break from playing these games.

Many of the games are finding new ways to make revenue outside of pesky and annoying banner advertising and pop-ups. I truly commend them because nobody likes annoying little videos we have to watch or random pop-up ads that are seemingly impossible to avoid clicking on by accident. However, most companies have found that the way to do this is either pay a one-time fee, or at times a recurring monthly subscription, that will buy you an ad free version of the game. While that is all well and good, I would recommend that you put up with the petty annoyances of advertisements rather than spending unnecessary money on at the ad free version.

Keep in mind that the money you save on these types of mobile games will allow you to spend a little extra on games where you should spend a little extra, like mobile casino games. These types of games are just another form of entertainment, and often times have a free play version where you can practice your table game skills. But they actually can serve a money saving purpose for those of you who like to gamble anyways. Just consider the amount of money it takes to buy a ticket, hotel room, and transportation to the nearest casino. Being able to play from the comfort of your own home and couch is something you simply can’t put a price tag on!
