I say this a lot; Uber is the best invention ever created. Well that might be a little extreme, but it is such a great thing that I could not imagine going without. Remember the days when you called a cab after a night at the bar, it might be a busy Saturday night, and they tell you they will be there somewhere between a half hour and 3 hours? Or a cab arrives and someone else steals it? Maybe you are still dealing with this. Maybe you drive home when you should not. Fed up with inefficiency of cab companies, charging whatever they want, me always complaining, I cannot believe I did not think of the Uber concept before. Granted my idea would not have gone too far due to lack of funding and not having any technical knowledge, I am glad it is around now.
If you do not have the app on your phone, download it now. First time riders are given promotion codes for free rides, so make sure you check before using for the first time. For those in the bubble, it tracks where you are, where the driver is, can put in your destination, and will give you a time of driver arrival and fare quote so you know what the cost is going to be. Once you select to be picked up, you can track the driver on the way to your location, and you will get a text message when it is selected, and again when it arrives. Your phone will be on file, so if there is any question, the driver will immediately call you. It is all paid through your card on file, you can split fares with other riders sent via the app, and fares are much cheaper than cabs ever were. If you used to drive when you have had few too many, there is no excuse now.
It does not have to be for drinking, I have used it to be dropped off/picked up at the airport and cruise port. It is funny, I received my yearly ride summary and it said I have used it in 17 cities for 178 times. Either I’m an alcoholic, or just responsible, maybe both, but I will say again, if you have not downloaded the Uber app and used their cab service, you need to the next time you go out!
