Are you a firearm owner? Perhaps you have little children? Or perhaps you just want a convenient place to store your gun that’s out of the way and more convenient. Well, don’t bother wasting your hard earned money on a gun cabinet! Why not hide your guns within a picture frame? Are you eager to get started?
Are you ready to hide your guns?
Here is what you’ll need:
• A decent sized picture frame (one that matches your décor and you like, obviously).
• 2 Wall mounts
• 2 Brackets
• A screwdriver
• A hammer
Step 1:
• Mount two brackets in to the picture frame. Use a 1-3/8” wide drill bit for a perfect circle to inlay the cabinet style bracket.
• This only needs to be 3⁄4” deep. You want it to be able to open without hitting the wall and yet be flush when it is closed.
*Drill the hole 1/4″ or slightly more from the edge. When it is closed the 1⁄4” board will be used as backing to fit inside so the picture is flush against the wall.
Step 2:
• Mount to the wall using wall mounts.
• Hammer two L hooks into the wall a good length apart to support the weight of your gun.
- Don’t forget to check for support
Step 3:
Add motion detectors to the inside of your picture frame in case the hiding spot is disturbed.
You don’t HAVE to do this, but it’s a fun little addition!
Wal-Mart does carry them at an affordable price!
Step 4:
Secure your rifle in place.
Step 5:
Put the picture frame over the rifle and voila! You have yourself a sweet hiding spot for your weapon. Do you use a gun safe? Would you ever consider turning a regular picture frame into a safe hiding spot for your gun?
Editors note: This isn’t meant to replace a gun safe.
