Nowadays, seeing men wearing accessories is no longer unusual. In fact, many men are choosing to incorporate accessories into their outfit, either to express their personal style or as a way to give a subtle nod to current trends. I’ve teamed up with Trendhim, to talk you through some essential accessories for men that are both easy to wear and style.
- Bracelets
Bracelets are a simple way to add an accessory to your outfit without being too bold, so they are great for beginners to accessorising. Men’s bracelets are available in a range of materials, colours and styles so you are sure to find something to suit you.
Take a men’s leather bracelet for example. This is one of the most stylish bracelets you can get as leather has an expensive feel, even when it wasn’t at all! They are usually seen in black and brown leather which means they are easy to match with the rest of your outfit. For example, if your watch has a black leather watchstrap then a black leather bracelet sitting next to it would look perfect.
Overall, wearing a bracelet is super easy. The only thing you need to bear in mind is the occasion in which you are planning to wear it to. For example, leather or beaded bracelets work best in more casual situations, whereas a metal bracelet is more suitable for a formal situation such as work or a wedding.
- Lapel pin
A lapel pin is a great accessory that not only works in formal situations, but also on a day-to-day basis. Lapel pins come in a variety of colours and styles, so you are able to match your pin to your situation.
Faux flower is one popular type of lapel pin. These are great for formal events like christenings and weddings, the latter in particular as they are a more practical alternative to boutonnieres (real flower lapel pins).
Metal lapel pins are traditionally worn to display support for certain causes, such as for politicians during an election period, but they also work really nicely as a fashion piece. Some popular examples are a stag’s head or an oak leaf.
- Earrings
Earrings for men have had a comeback in popularity, and rightly so. They are a simple and small way to add a touch of style to an otherwise plain outfit.
Two types of men’s earrings are available widely: studs and small hoops. Studs are the most popular earring style as they are easy to wear and suit every man. Small hoop earrings are a little more daring and they should only be worn if they go with the rest of your outfit or they match your personal style.
You should also make sure that the size and shape of your earring/earrings is in proportion to your body and face shape. For example, if you have an overly round face, you should opt for square shaped earrings and if you have a skinny frame, you shouldn’t wear oversized earrings as you will end up looking unbalanced.
Even if you don’t have your ears pierced, clip-on models are available so you don’t have to miss out on the trend.
Also, don’t worry about wearing your earring in a certain ear, gone are the days when a certain ear meant something!
