Ammo

What father, son, brother, uncle, or cousin who owns a gun doesn’t want something to load it with? Ammo is ALWAYS a great gift for a family member who loves to go shooting. Make sure to out what is the exact ammo they need though.

Where to buy: You can look at an ammo store near you, Walmart, or websites like Midway or Cabelas.

Cigar

Looking for a great stocking stuffer? Look no further. If you know a guy who loves a good stogie every now and then, this is a can’t-lose choice. You might even ask if they like to smoke a pipe. If so, there’s accessories you can buy, or just some great tobacco.

Where to buy: Individual cigars are pricey at smoke shops. If you’re going to buy more than one, you might try ordering a box or a sampler at a place like Thompson Cigar.

Work Gloves

Any man that gets his hands dirty won’t mind a new pair of work gloves. It’s cool to have tough, calloused hands. But raw open sores from shoving or swinging an ax is no bueno.

Where to buy: Check out high quality gloves by Mechanix.

Duncan Yo-Yo

Want to see a grown man get excited? This is a winner for any generation’s man. If they’re your dad or grandpa, they’ll be stoked and tell you stories of all of the tricks they once did. If they’re a young lad, I’m sure they’ll enjoy learning a thing or two from you.

Where to buy: Most toy stores.

  1. LOL. Love the yo-yo idea. Those were super popular at my school back in 4-5th grade and I love ‘walking the dog.’ haha

I’m truly digging the ammo though.

I wanted so bad to be a good yo-yo artist…when I was in grade school there were these automatic yo-yo’s that took no skill whatever to use. THAT’S what I want for Christmas.

  2. Great gift ideas! I think my wife is going to be getting me materials to start brewing my own beer. I’ve been wanting to brew for a while but have never taken the time to do it. I am really looking forward to it!

  3. Being half-blind in one eye, ammo isn’t the best gift for me. It took me twice as many rounds as everyone else to earn my rifle shooting merit badge at scout camp!

The yoyo is a great idea. Every so often, I find mine laying around and I’ll stop and play with it for a while.

It may not be considered the most manly (but then again, look at how many chefs are men), but I do most of the cooking at my home and I love kitchen gadgets for presents. Work gloves are also great; I’m constantly loosing mine.

  4. I didn’t even think about ammo as a gift, but that’s a great idea John. I would love to receive some 9 mm rounds for my Glock. A prepaid card for a shooting range would also be a great gift. I just bought 10 hours off of Groupon for $35.

That’s a great idea too! Also accessories that a person may not buy on their own but have wanted for a while.

  5. Aside from the yo yo, I thought this list was starting out for Arnold Schwarzenegger from his action movie days, although I doubt he has much use for work gloves.

  6. I would like to add to your list.

I think a real man needs a dog for Christmas, if he doesn’t already have one.

In my book, nothing can match the friendship and companionship of a dog.

  7. I like the work glove idea. Mine are pretty old and run down, but I use them regularly whenever I work in the yard. Heck, I just used them to put up the Christmas Tree.

All in all, I agree – can’t go wrong with this list.
