Manly Shaving Set

You know you want to win this Manly Shaving Set

ATTENTION: This month we’re doing a Fearless Men’s Beard and Mustache Competition that any man can enter. Sign up and leave feeling Manly! You know you want to win it!

We’re a week out from Thanksgivng – one of my favorite holidays. My family and I feast like it’s a zombie apocalypse. We usually make a turkey, ham and chicken in addition to all the other delicious servings like mashed potatoes and dessert. This year will be my first time to cook the turkey alone so I’m a tad nervous. Last year it was a combined effort and it turned out delicious!

Don’t forget to let us know about your Thanksgiving traditions and recipes in the comments below.

Last week our very own Todd was a guest speaker over @ The Free Financial Advisor for their weekly podcast called: Special Skyfall Release Episode–2 Guys & Your Money 017: What if James Bond Needed Financial Advice? Go give it a listen and at the 39:25 mark you’ll hear Todd and AverageJoe discuss James Bond’s financial gadgets. Todd also wrote about these gadgets here for you to read.

“It’s been said that “money fights and money problems” are one of the top causes of divorce. And as someone who went through a divorce myself, I can tell you those things are very stressful — especially if you have problems with debt, overspending, income, or even just very different points of view about how money should be handled in general.”

  1. For the last 4-5 years we’ve traveled to Omaha to visit with my wife’s family. She unfortunately has to work this Thanksgiving, so we won’t be able to do our standard veg-out tradition of eating and watching football all day. On Thanksgiving Friday we typically watch Husker football as they’re all crazed fans. 🙂

Thanks for the mention and I hope your competition is going well!

    • Thanks Jason! We’re not exactly sure how many participants we got. But hopefully it’ll be a high turnout.

Sorry to hear your thanksgiving tradition this year will have to change. Maybe you’ll be able to start a new one for when you stay in town.

  2. Thanks so much for the include! It looks like I am in good company. 🙂 I remember making the turkey on our own the first time. It was a bit chaotic to say the least and then my wife put potato peels down the drain and the fun began! But, the turkey turned out great.

  3. Thanks for mentioning me! Great roundup, by the way, you hit a lot of good ones

  4. Thanks for mentioning the show! Todd was awesome (and it’s our most-listened to episode ever….I’m sure thanks to Todd).

You’re cooking the turkey? Wow! I’m spoiled: my brother in law is a cook at a local restaurant and handles EVERYTHING. I just make sure and run the Turkey Trot in the morning so I feel like I deserve that third helping….

    • AverageJoe, glad to hear we (Todd) were able to help you out. Thanks for thinking of us!

As long as we all got turkey and a 3rd helping, right? 🙂

  5. Hey Jon, thank you for including me in this week, I enjoy the round ups each week!

Have you thought of deep frying the turkey/ its quick (3min per lb) and easy (as long as you don’t set your house on fire!).

    • I have thought about deep frying the turkey but was worried I’d burn the whole thing. Thanks for the tip! I don’t think I’m prepared for it this year but next year maybe…

  6. Thanks for the mention John.

I can’t believe I just learned of your beard/mustache competition. I got married last month and shaved the beard that I randomly decided to grow. Weddings are always messing things up…

  7. I was just saying to John over at Frugal Rules that all this American Thanksgiving talk is making me want to eat Turkey and the trimmings. I enjoy turkey, stuffing, mash and gravy and of course a salad and apple pie… makes me happy hanging out with the family. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving ! Mr.CBB
