DIY Lip Balm

Chapped lips really get on my nerve!  It seems every time I wake up my lips are nasty or cracked.  It is miserable!  But it doesn’t have to be.  This DIY lip balm is a miracle and it is not only a great remedy for your lips, but also a frugal and thoughtful gift idea for all those with chapped lips in your life!

Are you ready to get started?!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Shea Butter (go with organic, unrefined like Mountain Rose carries HERE)
  • 2-3 drops of carrier oil (like jojoba oil, almond oil, etc)
  • 3-5 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 2 drops of vitamin E (optional, but really helps moisturize your lips deep down)
  • A small container to put your concoction in (Mountain Rose also sells them HERE)

SheaButter

How to:DIYLIPBALM2

  • Wash your hands and put a good amount of Shea butter in your hand.
  • Add a couple of drops of carrier oil (Almond oil is suggested) and mix it with your other hand until it is thick, but easier to work with.
  • Add 2 drops of tea tree oil and mash away again.  Make sure there is some smell there, but make sure it isn’t overpowering either!
  • Add a few drops of your Vitamin E.
  • Put this FABULOUS concoction in a clean jar and use it on those chapped smackers!  Don’t forget to close the lid tightly so it won’t dry out!  P.S. Vitamin E really helps this lip balm to not oxidize….it is highly suggested that you use it!
