For some people staying on top of their finances is a breeze, but for many of us it can prove quite a struggle. Organization is perhaps the key to feeling more content about money, but this is sometimes easier said than done.

Thankfully though, there are a whole range of apps out there that might help, so if you’re looking at consolidating credit cards in order to lower debts or simply hoping to save a little extra cash why not download them to your smartphone and give them a try?

Savings Goals

Whether you’re saving up for something special or looking to put a little cash aside just in case, this could be the app to get you on track. All you need to do is input some simple information such as your target sum and when you would like to achieve it by and it will calculate a suggested schedule for you. This means you are aware of what should be saved each week/month in order to reach your goal on time and it’ll even provide a graphical representation of your efforts.

Bill Assistant

If you’re prone to forgetfulness then Bill Assistant is well worth taking a look at to avoid late payment. All you need to do to get started is to input information about what bills you have coming up and when. From there it provides a variety of functions including issuing reminders when payments are imminent and offering an at-a-glance overview of your outgoings over a specified time period. You can even configure it to automatically log direct debits and other recurring bills.

PageOnce

If you’re keen to be able to pay bills on the go then this could be the app for you. Real time alerts are also provided to allow you to stay on top of your money and those with a portfolio of investments can keep tabs on them too. It is even possible to use the application to pay with your credit card and also to cover its bills.

Money Smart – Accounts, Budget and Bills

Looking for a way to track all your financial activities at once? Money Smart may provide a solution as it promises to “track all transactions, budgets and bills and link them together”. Among the most useful features is Bill Management, which issues reminders of when payments need to be made and also lays them out on a calendar. It is also able to keep track of bills when they are recurring, so there’s no need to input it again after the first payment.

Comments

  1. I’m surprised more apps weren’t reviewed in this article (e.g. mint) with pros and cons of each. Not that this article is bad or anything but a more detailed review of finance apps available would have been more useful.

  2. Wunderlist, while not precisely personal finance, does a wonderful job of keeping my tasks in order and on time. Great interface, too.

  3. I’ve been using the Mint.com app for over a year now and love it. I like it especially when I head to the grocery store and it allows me to see how much I have available to spend on food and clothes and everything else.

  4. Mint.com is definitely my favorite for keeping track of my finances on the go. I have found that my banks app is severly lacking compared to Mint. Thanks for the tips on the others.
